Meet The Radon Bros

TOM

Tom is a dedicated family man who cherishes quality time with his loved ones, especially over home-cooked meals like steaks, crab legs, and garlic mashed potatoes. As a business owner, Tom believes in staying present and adaptable, knowing that true success balances both professional commitment and personal connection.

Getting together with the kids and grandparents. Making a good meal and just hanging around.

I don’t think there is a true balance. You have to just make things happen professionally and personally. That could mean many late nights and early mornings or just knowing when to stop picking up the phone or writing emails. Having a successful business is worth nothing if your wife and kids aren’t happy with you, it also doesn’t mean your customers, employees and business relationships suffer or are on the back burner. As one of the people steering the ship you will know intuitively who needs your attention and when. If you fail at it once in awhile that’s ok, you just own up to it and make the necessary corrections.

We have A dog named Olive, 1 cat named Cat-man, 8 chickens & 2 Beehives

Olive is a pure white small 4lb chussel who is 12 yrs old and is very relaxed and loving. Cat-man is 11 and is very elusive but, when its nighttime he’s very active with the family and wants all the love.

The chickens are fun and great for the kids and fresh eggs. The bees we don’t consider pets but, they are great to watch throughout the seasons.

Brian

Brian believes family is at the heart of everything he does — whether it’s running his business or grilling on the patio with loved ones. He and his family value simple traditions, laughter, and time together, from Christmas Eve dinners to playing Uno around the table. Even their rescue pittie, Harley Quinn, is part of the fun. Balancing work and family takes discipline, but Brian keeps his priorities clear: serve others with integrity while never losing sight of what matters most — home, family, and creating lasting memories.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is colorless, tasteless, and odorless. It is produced by the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water and can enter homes through cracks in floors, walls, foundations, and other openings. Radon is a concern because it is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. Long-term exposure to high levels of radon can significantly increase the risk of developing lung cancer, especially for smokers.

Due to its invisible nature, it’s crucial to test for radon, as people are often unaware of its presence until levels become hazardous. Various health organizations, including the EPA and WHO, emphasize the need for regular radon testing and mitigation to ensure indoor air quality and protect public health.

Radon typically enters homes through cracks in floors, walls, or foundations due to its gaseous state. It can also seep through construction joints, gaps around service pipes, cavities inside walls, and the water supply. Homes act like vacuum cleaners, pulling radon in from the surrounding soil due to the difference in air pressure inside the home and the ground.

This is particularly common in areas where soil is porous, allowing radon to move easily. The combination of a house’s construction and site geography can affect radon levels, which why even neighboring homes can have different radon concentrations. Sealing entry points and improving ventilation are part of the radon mitigation strategies to reduce these levels effectively.

Radon mitigation refers to the process of reducing radon gas concentrations in the breathing zones of occupied buildings. The primary goal is to prevent radon from entering the home or reduce it to a safe level.

The most common and effective mitigation method is active soil depressurization, which involves the use of a pipe and fan system to draw radon from beneath the house and expel it outside. Other methods may include sealing cracks in floors and walls, increasing ventilation, or using barriers to block radon entry.

Radon mitigation systems should be installed and maintained by certified professionals to ensure they are effective and meet regulatory standards, ensuring a safer living environment.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets the recommended action level for radon at 4.0 pCi/L (picocuries per liter). If your radon level is at or above this threshold, it is advised to take corrective actions to lower these levels. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) suggests a lower action level of 2.7 pCi/L, as any exposure to radon has some risk of causing lung cancer.

Therefore, testing for radon and performing regular checks, even if your home has a radon mitigation system, are crucial. If your levels are close to or above these thresholds, immediate action and consultation with radon mitigation professionals are the best courses of action to ensure a safe and healthy environment.

Radon mitigation is generally a quick process that depends on the complexity of the installation. Most standard systems can be installed within a day, particularly if the installation site is straightforward. This includes the assessment, installation of the system, and testing to ensure that the radon levels have been reduced effectively. However, some homes with unique structural challenges might take longer.

Following the installation, it’s vital to conduct follow-up tests to confirm that radon levels are indeed reduced to safe levels. Professional radon mitigation experts can provide a precise timeline during the consultation phase, ensuring the process is as seamless and efficient as possible.

The cost of a radon mitigation system can vary depending on several factors, including the complexity of the installation, the size of the home, and geographical location. Typically, prices range from $800 to $2,500, with the average cost around $1,200. However, these are estimates, and an accurate quote necessitates an inspection by a certified radon mitigation professional.

While there is an upfront cost, it’s a worthwhile investment in your health and safety, potentially preventing costly health issues in the future. Various assistance programs may be available to help offset these costs, particularly for low-income families, ensuring that everyone has access to a safe living environment.
